Made the Chocolate Stout cupcakes dedicated to Marty’s husband, Fitz, a true beer lover. He is my go-to guy at presentations.
We tried the Troegs Java Head and found it had a nice flavor, not too mocha.
This morning was time to make the cupcakes. The mixing went just fine. However, every time I checked the cupcakes in the oven, the toothpick kept coming out with goop. They stayed in there for an extra 15 minutes. Finally, I threw caution to the wind, took them out, and let them cool.
I took a scrap piece of paper folded it in half and drew a beer bottle, [okay there’s a reason I have a degree in nutrition and not art], and cut it out. I put the paper bottle on the cupcake. Then, I scooped the sugar in a small mesh strainer and tapped on the side.
The crumble topping sunk in on most of the cupcakes. The tops did sink a bit making the shape more fat and flat, making these truly Chocolate Stout. But, chocolate is chocolate and it didn’t stop anyone from eating them.
The taste test showed the bottom was still a little gooey, but almost a brownie consistency. So, Mr. Fitz deemed them a success. Not only did they have a lovely flavor, but since he is the goop king, they were a gooey perfection.
